1. Do I need to take my clothes off?
That depends on the type of massage you have:
- Sports massage and deep tissue – if we are working on the back then all your kit off apart from shorts / pants / knickers
- Aromatherapy – down to knickers / pants
- Thai – keep everything on, great for those who don’t want to take everything off!
- Reiki – keep your clothes on
2. Will I be lying down or sitting?
All massages will done on the massage table, but Reiki can either be done on the massage table or seated in a chair
3. Do you touch me during Reiki?
That depends entirely on you. We can do the treatment with my hands floating a few inches above your body, or if you are happy to be touched I will gently put my hands on various positions of your body.
4. How often should I get a massage?
That depends entirely on you and what you are hoping to gain from it. If you are looking for a relaxing massage then perhaps every 3 to 6 weeks, or whatever you think is appropriate. If you are looking for a more specific massage then maybe every 2 weeks for 2 to 3 sessions followed by a ongoing maintenance session after that every 3 to 4 weeks or so.
5. Will the massage be painful?
Aromatherapy is a very light massage with the purpose of pushing the essential oils into the skin, so it’s very unlikely you will feel any pain. On the other hand, sports massage or deep tissue techniques go deeper into the tissues with the aim of breaking down any knots or adhesions, and this may be a little bit ‘ouch’ but in a good way. Good communication between me and you will ensure that you get the best pressure for you, it’s a very subjective thing and should be completely in control of how much pressure I apply.
6. How will I feel after my massage?
You should feel pleasantly relaxed with a reduction in any aches and pains. You may also feel a feeling of ‘lightness’. If you’ve had a sports or deep tissue massage, you may feel a little sore the next day, as if you’ve had a workout, but that will soon disappear. Make sure to drink a bit more water to keep the tissues healthy.
7. When shouldn’t I get a massage?
Please let me know if you have any illness or pre-existing conditions or disease so we can discuss what options are available.
8. What is your cancellation policy?
There is no cancellation fee, and if you feel unwell on the day of your appointment please let me know and we can reschedule.
